Brussels The cluster Software in Brussels invites you to a legal workshop on the protection and the exploitation of software intellectual property. Philippe Laurent, Counsel at Marx Van Ranst Vermeersch & Partners and Senior Researcher at the CRIDS, will present some key elements of software protection and its importance in good development strategies.
Philippe has a ten years experience in the areas of intellectual property law, information technology and commercial law. Besides his expertise in copyright law, Philippe is regularly involved in trademark and domain name litigations, and was consequently appointed by the CEPANI as Third-Party Decider for ".be" domain name disputes. He is furthermore alternate member of the copyrights and neighbouring rights section of the Belgian Intellectual Property Council. He usually advises and represents before the Belgian courts businesses in the software development & services, information processing, advertisement, media & entertainment, on-line commerce and merchandise distribution sectors. As a researcher at the CRIDS, he acquired an extensive knowledge of open source licensing and studies the legal issues of cloud computing.
